FAQS

AM I READY FOR AQUA?

AQUA is the friendliest workout you can find in New York. Our mission is to make cardio exercise accessible to everyone. The salt water creates a safe environment for your body and allows you to make your workout as intense as you wish it to be. Most of our classes are open level. Our clients come from all fitness levels. Our team is warm and attentive and our studio feels more like a spa, candlelit and dimmed lighting, to make your experience confortable and relaxing.

WHICH CLASS FOR MY FIRST TIME?

BLEND AQUACYCLING. This class integrates our 3 main class styles — Power, Interval and Restorative — with detailed explanations of body positioning and bike functionality, so you experience our full range of class styles from high-intensity to dynamic recovery and relaxation with a focus on technique and mind-body connection. BLEND is a great class for your first visit to learn the fundamentals, but also, later on, if you’d like to revisit and refine your riding form. View Blend Schedule

WHAT DO I WEAR?

All you really need is a comfortable, supportive and covering swimsuit. One-piece are a favorite but 2-piece, sports bra and bikini bottom or shorts are welcome. Feel free to stop by our corner shop at the studio for examples of beautiful and functional swimwear that is ideal for aquacycling.

IS AQUA SAFE DURING PREGNANCY?

Not only is AQUA safe during pregnancy, it is recommended by many women as being the ideal workout to keep your flexibly and cardio, as well as connect with baby, and prepare for the due date (read more about our client's testimonials). That said, every pregnancy is different so we recommend to check in with your OBGYN and get the green light to exercise first.

I CAN'T SWIM. IS THAT OK?

Our pool is a comfortable 4' deep (and an inviting 84ºF) so there’s no need to know how to swim. Aquacycling is not a swimming class, but it is a great primer for non-swimmers on how to grow confidence moving in the water. All our trainers are also lifeguard certified.

Do you have co-ed classes?

Yes. The majority of our classes are women only but we offer co-ed classes everyday. Please note that we have only one women locker room. Men are invited to change upstairs in the changing rooms and shower on the pool deck.

DO I NEED SPECIAL FOOTWEAR?

Water shoes are required to cycle in the pool. If you do not own a pair, we rent shoes for $2. If you’re bringing your own water shoes, they should be closed-toe. Although we recommend shoes made from rubber, water shoes made with fabric elements are also welcome.

DO I NEED A TOWEL?

We provide one full-body towel per guest. Additional towels are available for $1 per extra towel.

TELL ME ABOUT YOUR POOL STANDARDS

Our pool is a salt water pool. We hold our studio to a high standard of cleanliness. We staff a team of pool professionals to ensure the quality and safety of the pool water. Our filtration system filters the whole body of water 10 times a day and our salt generator is one of the most advanced technology on the market. In addition, our pool is vacuumed daily and tested 4 times daily. We are proud to say that we have always successfully passed every Health Inspection since opening our doors.

IS THERE AN AGE REQUIREMENT TO ATTEND CLASSES?

Minors who are at least 12 years of age, meet the minimum height requirement of 4'11", who have submitted a Minor New Rider Waiver Form signed by a parent or guardian, may attend our classes.
