TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF
Fitness has always been a part of my life — outdoor activities, team sports, group fitness classes. I’ve done them all! Over time, I developed a passion for wellness as a lifestyle. Yes, fitness, but also nutrition, self-care, sense of purpose, connection with other. It all needs to be in balance for us to feel our best. I love being a trainer because I get to be a part of these things in the people who take our classes, and it makes my heart full! It is such a joy to be part of the journey and transformation in another person.
HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED WITH AQUASTUDIO?
I was looking for a great workout that offered intensity without the feelings of comparison or competition. AQUA feels more like a community, and that’s something that’s really important to me.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CLASS TO TEACH, AND WHY?
I’ve gotta go with my first love, AQUA PADDLE, for the great core and upper body strengthening. Though AQUA PLYO is right up there, too, with its variety of high-intensity movements on and off the bike!
WHAT DOES HOLISTIC WELLNESS MEAN TO YOU?
I think it’s exploring and doing your best to serve your needs in all the various areas of your life. All of the things that you do to nurture knowing yourself and your needs. So that includes things like fitness and nutrition, and also mindset, connection with others, creativity, experiences such as travel or adventure or arts & culture…and often-times just the reminder to BREATHE! It’s important to feel balanced and fueled in our lives, and I believe that seeking wellness in a holistic way cultivates these qualities in us.
WHAT DOES YOUR PERFECT AQUA CLASS PLAYLIST INCLUDE?
This is tough – there is so much good music! I don’t have a single style/genre, so you’ll get a variety in my class. My perfect AQUA playlist includes all types: pop/remix; EDM/house with a little more edge to really get after it with; and I love to throw in a few unexpected songs like an '80s/‘90s throwback, Reggae or Latin hit. You’re almost guaranteed to hear a song by Sia or Rihanna (or Beyonce or Lady Gaga...)!
WHAT INSPIRES YOU EVERY DAY?
Anyone taking a risk, putting themselves out there in whatever context that is, because it’s when we take ourselves out of our comfort zones that we grow.
WHAT CAN AQUASTUDIO MEMBERS EXPECT FROM TAKING A CLASS WITH YOU?
Expect to be pushed - and also endlessly supported! I love core-strengthening combinations, like a good run out of the saddle combined with fast-paced arm/paddle movements in the saddle – you have to keep your form in check to keep up!
